Οur work concerns the composition, monitoring and evaluation of the National Plan for the Integration of Immigrants of the Republic of Cyprus. The body responsible for the integration of immigrants in Cyprus is the Civil Registry and Migration Department of the Ministry of Interior.
The National Plan for the Integration of Immigrants will be approved by the competent body. The project team is working closely with the Civil Registry and Migration Department on the composition of the plan, which includes a set of suggestions for measures aimed at the integration of migrants, that will emerge through research and discussion in focus groups, as well as consultation with the public bodies involved and interested stakeholders.
Focus groups include bodies engaging with migration and integration concerns. They are convened in consultation with the Civil Registry and Migration Department and inform the Advisory Committee for the Integration of Immigrants, an advisory body established by decision of the Council of Ministers. The consultation will determine the current situation and assess the needs of migrants, taking into account the national and European context.
After the completion and adoption of the Plan, the project team will obtain information on the activities of stakeholders and the general public. At the same time, there will be a monitoring mechanism to further the effective implementation of the National Plan with progress reports, while a manual of evaluation methodology will be developed to achieve the objectives of the Plan based on indicators.
The project lasts 46 months: 01/01/2019 – 31/10/2022.
It is co-financed by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and the Republic of Cyprus.
